Web design for Peekskill businesses
I'm Eduardo Lopez, a web developer in Cortlandt Manor, right next door to Peekskill. I build fast, mobile-friendly websites for local restaurants, shops, and service businesses, and I can meet you downtown to plan yours.
Get a free website checkI tested 63 local business websites. Most are slow on phones.
In October 2026, I ran every independent business website I could find in Peekskill and the surrounding towns through Google's own PageSpeed test, set to a phone. This is what customers searching on their phones run into.
56/100
Typical mobile speed score. Google rates 90 and above as good.
1 of 55
Sites that showed their main content within Google's 2.5-second target.
28
Sites that took more than 10 seconds to show their main content.
8 of 63
Website links that were broken: 6 did not respond and 2 led to "page not found."
By type of business
| Type of business | Sites scored | Typical score | Typical time to main content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restaurants, cafes, and bars | 26 | 57 | 12.8 s |
| Shops and retail | 10 | 51 | 16.1 s |
| Professional and home services | 10 | 68 | 5.5 s |
| Health and veterinary | 5 | 53 | 13.3 s |
| Arts, leisure, and lodging | 4 | 48 | 14.0 s |
What this means if you run a business here
- Restaurants feel it most. People look up a menu or hours on their phone, often on the way. Local restaurant sites took a typical 12.8 seconds to show their main content in this test.
- Google notices speed. Page experience on phones is part of how Google evaluates sites, so a slow site can lose ground to a faster competitor down the street.
- Broken links cost customers quietly. 8 of the website links listed for local businesses on the map did not work. If yours is one of them, people tapping it see an error instead of your business.
- Layout jumps are common. On 25% of sites, the page shifted noticeably while loading, which leads to mis-taps on phones.
The good news: most of these problems are fixable without starting over. Large images, too many plugins, and heavy fonts cause most of the delay.
How I help Peekskill businesses
- Websites for small businesses
A fast, professional website that looks right on every phone, explains what you do in plain words, and is set up so Google can find it.
- Redesigns and speed fixes
If your current site is slow, dated, or hard to use on a phone, I can rebuild it or fix what is holding it back, while keeping the pages Google already knows.
- Directory and data-driven websites
Sites built on lists or data: business and program directories, local guides, lookup tools, maps, and stats sites with hundreds or thousands of pages.
- Custom web apps
When a website needs accounts, forms, or a dashboard, I build it with Next.js so it stays fast and easy to grow.
Local, and easy to reach
I live a few minutes away in Cortlandt Manor and work with businesses across Peekskill, from the shops and restaurants around Main Street and Division Street to service businesses throughout the city. I also work in Cortlandt, Yorktown, Croton-on-Hudson, and the rest of Westchester County.
How the study was done
I collected every business in Peekskill, Cortlandt (including Cortlandt Manor, Croton-on-Hudson, Buchanan, and Montrose), Yorktown, and Ossining that lists a website on OpenStreetMap, the public map database, and left out national chains, regional chains, and government pages. That left 63 independent local businesses and organizations. I tested each homepage once with Google PageSpeed Insights using its mobile setting, which simulates a mid-range phone on a slow 4G connection. Visitors on fast Wi-Fi will see quicker loads, but every site was measured the same way. Results are reported as totals only, and no business is named.
Common questions
Can you check my business website for free?
Yes. Send me your website address and I will run the same Google test used in this study, then send you the score and the two or three changes that would help most. There is no obligation.
Can we meet in Peekskill?
Yes. I live in neighboring Cortlandt Manor and am happy to meet at your business or a coffee place downtown.
My site is on Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress. Do I need to start over?
Not always. Some sites get much faster with a few fixes to images, fonts, and apps. If a rebuild makes more sense, I keep your page addresses so you do not lose the Google rankings you already have.
How much does a website cost?
It depends on the size of the site. After a free call I send a fixed price in writing, so you know the full cost before any work starts.
Want to know how your site scored?
Send me your website address. I will run the same test and reply with your score and the changes that would help most, free.
